Sabrina's Tips

Translations

My very first tip involves recommendations for any translations that are needed for applications or petitions filed with the USCIS immigration service centers:

Tip #1: Do not use official translation services of any kind.

It has been our experience that "official" translation services overcharge, without even producing somewhat accurate translations. This is very unfortunate seeing as how accuracy is the most important part of a translation.

Our office can help provide you with advice on format, so that you can produce the most effective and preferred type of translations.

I speak Spanish fluently and can accurately translate documents from Spanish into English.

I am also a CA Notary and can legally notarize documents.

Lake Tahoe News

Since I represent several clients (businesses & individuals) in Lake Tahoe, I am going to periodically put Lake Tahoe news and information on this blog.

A great website for information on Lake Tahoe is www.bluelaketahoe.com. This is the official website for the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. You can look at parts of Lake Tahoe live through several webcams, get current road information, look at all of the activities and sports to keep you busy in Lake Tahoe, find amazing restaurants & small concert venues, or find a place to get married.

Currently, the Bears by the Lake Exhibition (artists created a variety of artistic bears) is going on.

Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places on Earth and I highly recommend that everyone try and visit Lake Tahoe at some point.

I am always up for travelling to Lake Tahoe for immigration issues and trainings. If you live or do business in Lake Tahoe, and would like immigration information and/or trainings (employer compliance & I-9s, current immigration legislation in Congress and potential legalization, or family based U.S. Legal Permanent Residence - green cards), please contact me at 415-541-9290.

Randall Speaking at "Fundamentals of Immigration Law Practice" Conference in Seattle, WA in October 2006

I will be speaking at AILA's "Fundamentals of Immigration Law Practice" Conference in Seattle, WA on October 19-20, 2006.

My topic is a "General Overview of Immigration Law". A very broad topic that my co-panelist and I are being given only an hour and 5 minutes to present!

I will be speaking on several specific issues involved in immigration law practice including:

a) Practice resources & tools: where do I find the law and forms?
b) Immigration terms and acronyms
c) Maintaining legal status
d) Immigrant Visa preference categories (Note: Immigrant Visas are the government's official term for green cards, which are actually pink and have not been green in many years.)
e) Case consultation & intake with clients
f) Law Office Management issues for immigration attorneys
g) Unique Ethical issues faced by immigration attorneys

AILA is the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the national bar association for immigration attorneys. Every attorney taking on any immigration case should be a member of this organization!

See http://aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=18204#overview for detailed info on the conference.
